FASTLINKS was chosen by Princeton University to establish a 100BaseT and T1 channel connection between the University’s main campus and an off campus office occupied by the group responsible for investing the University’s vast endowment.

The challenge in this system design was to engineer a reliable wireless link that involved hiding one side of the system inside a bell tower without affecting performance.

To accomplish this, a small 1’ diameter antenna attached to a tripod mount was installed inside the bell tower and the radio signal shot through a small opening.

FYI – Chartered in 1746, Princeton University, known as the College of New Jersey until 1896, was British North America’s fourth college.
